Mayor's Office

With the receipt of $97,000 in Community Crossings matching
grant funds from the Indiana Department of Transportation, Martinsville City officials will pave six
additional or new? [have other roads been paved this summer?] road projects this year.

The funds are a dollar to dollar matching grant from INDOT, according to Mayor Shannon Kohl, meaning
the City will need to match these funds equally, with the local dollars coming from the City’s ______ Fund.

“This money in our _____Fund was received from ___________(Indiana’s special Local Option Income
Tax distribution that happened earlier this year) – true?. When we received this special LOIT
distribution, we wanted to apply for the matching grant program to maximize funding for the
additional road improvements,” Kohl said. “We are looking forward to proceeding with the additional
appropriation process for the local monies to be officially used as the match.”

The six additional paving projects are: Garner Avenue from Mahalasville Street to Reagan Park, Grassyfork
Lane from East Morgan Street to Jordan Court, Jordan Court from Grassyfork Lane to the dead end street,
West Highland Street from North Maple Street to North Mulberry Street, North Marion Street from West
Douglas Street to East Harrison Street and South Ohio Street from East Walnut Street to East Washington
Street.

“With our paving projects a significant piece of our Neighborhoods Building Block, we are thrilled to be
able to utilize these funds combined with our local match dollars to maximize our paving efforts this year
and improve as many areas of the community as possible,” Kohl said.
