No Martinsville Trash Collection Labor Day; Double Pick Up Tuesday, September 6

Street Department

City administrative offices closed Monday for holiday

There will be no trash collection on next week’s City holiday, Monday, Labor Day, with Martinsville Street Department crews doing a double trash pick up next Tuesday for all those on the Monday and Tuesday collection routes.

Residents are reminded trash should be set out curbside by 7:00 a.m. the day of pick up and no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the night before collection.

The City’s bulk trash collection now is on a quarterly schedule with the next Bulk Trash Week October 3-7. Street Department crews will collect bulk trash items on residents’ regular trash collection day that week. For those who have not taken advantage of this free service, items such as furniture, box springs and mattresses can be placed curbside for collection. No electronics, appliances or building material will be collected. Anyone who has bulk trash items they need to dispose of prior to the first week in October should take them to the transfer station at 45 Rose Street.

City administrative offices will be closed on Monday for the Labor Day holiday.

Because of the holiday, Monday’s regularly scheduled Board of Public Works and City Council meetings have been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 6 at 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. respectively. Those meetings will take place in their usual location in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 59 South Jefferson Street.
