POLICE CHIEF ADVISES COMMUNITY ON SAFE WINTER PRACTICE

News, Police Department

Martinsville, Ind. – Martinsville Police Chief Matt Long is advising the community on how to prevent a

recurring incident the department sees every winter.

With temperatures beginning to drop, Police Chief Long suggests residents lock their cars in the mornings when they warm them up.

He said many will leave their car running and run into the store or back into their house to grab something, then when they come back, their car is missing.

Car thefts are a common with colder temperatures, as many leave their vehicles unattended, so Chief Long advises the community to lock running cars to prevent thieves from taking advantage.
