Mayor Costin presented the Minutes of Tuesday, August 24, 2020.  There being no objections, the Minutes were approved by unanimous consent.


STREET PAVING / RESURFACING –  City Superintendent had Mac Dunn reported he and Interim City Engineer Gary Oakes and Troy Swan of HWC had reviewed the bids for paving and resurfacing.  The following bids were received:  E&B Paving; $399,838.01, Milestone; $367,078.00 and Wallace Construction, $365,783.63.  Wallace Construction was recommended to the Board of Works for the contract.  A motion to accept and allow was made by Board member Kris Fuller.  Board member Kelly Bray seconded the motion.  The Motion passes 3-0.


Alpine Environmental, Inc. – Interim City Engineer Gary Oakes led a brief discussion regarding the testing of indoor air quality testing for properties. Properties to tested: 59 S. Jefferson St.; 60 S. Sycamore St.; 70 S. Sycamore St.; 110 W. Morgan St.; and 160 W. Morgan St.  The cost of the testing is $4,700.00.  A motion to accept and allow was made by Board member Kris Fuller with Board member Kelly Bray making the second.  The Motion passes 3-0.

Tort Claim / Haley Strader, Douglas Strader – City Attorney Dale Coffey explained the City had been named in a Tort Claim filed by Haley Strader and Douglas Strader.  Coffey explained the claim will be forwarded to the City’s insurance carrier.  Since the claim is for an accident outside of City limits, Coffey is certain it will be dismissed.


There being no objections, the following were approved by unanimous consent.

  2. 315 N. Home Ave.; $1,290.39
  3. 2024 Burton Ln.; $860.26
  4. 53 Laveianan Ct.; $628.31


Mack Porter, Administrative Assistant to Mayor Costin, announced a special meeting will be called to consider street closure requests.  Board member Kris Fuller questioned if Miller Pipeline will fully restore Harrison Street after repairs.  Superintendent Mac Dunn reported they would.  Fuller also asked about the trails at the Jimmy Nash City Park.  Park Superintendent Keenan Steinway has been notified.


There being no further business, Mayor Costin declared the meeting adjourned.
