Planning Commision Meeting Minutes – August 24, 2021

The Martinsville Plan Commission was called to order by Chairman Tom Williams at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, in the Council Chambers of City Hall, Martinsville, IN.

ROLL CALL:   

Those members present were:

  • Bob Strader, Building Inspector

PRESENTATION OF MINUTES DATED:    June 22, 2021, and July 27, 2021

MOTION:   A motion was made by Melanie Foley to  approve the minutes of the June 22, 2021, Meeting.   David Arnold seconded the motion which passed unanimously.

MOTION:   A motion was made by Melanie Foley to  approve the minutes of the July 27, 2021, Meeting.   Ben Rawlins seconded the motion which passed unanimously.

SWEARING IN OF NEW PLAN COMMISSION BOARD MEMBER:

Martinsville Mayor Kenny Costin swore in Rick Heacock as a new member to the Board of the Plan Commission.   (This was necessitated by Member Jacob Kaufman moving out of the district.)

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

  1. Docket #PC21012: Request to vacate and replat 2 lots in the Robert Martindale’s First Subdivision.  Owner:  Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle; Rodric Bray, Attorney.

Attorney Rodric Bray made the presentation to the Plan Commission.   He stated that the Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle, Inc., was petitioning for Partial Vacation of Plat and Replat concerning 609 Virginia Street and 639 Virginia Street, and replat of these properties along with the real estate located at 2189 Burton Lane, Martinsville, IN.  A drawing of the area was distributed to the commission board.

Attorney Bray further stated that this would allow the ministry to work more effectively.  The school is growing and they need additional space.

REMONSTRATORS:

None.

MOTION:

A motion was made by Melanie Foley to approve the request to vacate and replat Lots 51 and  52 in the Robert Martindale’s First Subdivision, as requested by the Martinsville Baptist Tabernacle.  Ben Rawlins  seconded the motion which passed unanimously.

NEXT MEETING:

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Martinsville Plan Commission will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 28, 2021.

ADJOURNMENT:

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned with a motion made by Ben Rawlins, seconded by Melanie Foley, and passed unanimously.
