A regular meeting of the Martinsville Redevelopment Commission (RDC) met at 7:30 am on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in the Council Chambers at Martinsville City Hall.

Roll Call: 

Commission members: Dair Grant, Al Myers, Rich Griswold, Paul Lauck, were in attendance. Phil Deckard was absent. Also in attendance were Dakota VanLeeuwen, Gary Oaks, Mayor Costin, Don Lipps, Reporter-Times.

Meeting called to order by President Dair Grant

Approval of Minutes:

The minutes of the June meeting were discussed.

Motion to approve June minutes was made by Rich Griswold.  Seconded by Paul Lauck             .                  .                        .            .                 .

Motion approved 4-0

Approval of Claims

Motion to approve claims of $15,599.03  Motion made by Al Myers.  Seconded by Paul Lauck          Approved 4-0

Financial Report:   

Discussion of financial report:

Go Bond balance $81067.52            for the month of June 1- June 30, 2022

T I F balance        $869,874.09         for the month of June 1- June 30, 2022

Engineer’s Report:

Discussion on the South Street Project. Gary Oaks reported that some delays were being caused by all the piping under the street. Each time a new hole is dug a different line is found and has to be mapped.

The paperwork for the new Fire/Police station is going well.

Work proceeding on GO Bond

Approval of the Project List for the Go Bond. List is for Sidewalks, Acquisitions and Sewer Lining

Motion to accept the Project List was made by Rich Griswold and Seconded by Al Myers

Approved 4-0

Gary Oakes contacted RDC by email on July 19 and stated that the City has an opportunity to provide fiber internet throughout the city from AT&T. If the city could match 10%. This request will be added to the Project List for the Go Bond. There was a positive response.
