Common Council Meeting Minutes – July 24, 2023

Mayor Costin called the meeting Martinsville Common Council to order on Monday, July 2, 2023. Pastor John Maples of First Baptist Church led the prayer. Mayor Costin led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Councilwoman Ann Miller was absent.

A quorum was present.

MINUTES

Mayor Costin presented the Minutes of Monday July 10, 2023.  A motion to accept and allow was made by Councilman Phil Deckard Sr.  Councilman Phil Deckard II seconded the motion.  The motion passed 6-0.

MAYOR’S COMMENTS

Mayor Costin announced Deputy Clerk Ben Merida will be hosting a “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” build soon.

NEW BUSINESS

Mike Dellinger, Executive Director of the Morgan County Economic Development Corporation gave a county-wide update.

Annual Compliance Statement / Historical Morgan County Jail, 110 W. Washington Street –  A motion to accept and allow was made by Councilman Phil Deckard II.  Seconding the motion was Councilman Jim Wisco.  The motion passed 6-0.

Annual Compliance Statement / Kivett’s Building / 110 N. Main Street – A motion to accept and allow was made by Councilman Phil Deckard II.  Councilwoman Suzie Lipps seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously.

Annual Compliance Statement / Martinsville Sanitarium / 265 W. Harrison Street – A motion to accept and allow was made by Councilman Phil Deckard II.  Councilman  Deckard Sr. seconded the motion.  The motion passed 6-0.

CLAIMS

Mayor Costin presented the Claims. A motion to accept and allow was made by Councilman Jim Wisco.  Councilman Phil Deckard II seconded the motion.  The motion passed 6-0.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Citizen John Badger, 840 S. Mulberry Street, reminded everyone this weekend is Artie Fest.

There being no further business, Mayor Costin declared the meeting adjourned.
